Parque Calderon, Cuenca, Ec.

I have been editing videos for many years.  The ratio is often 1:20. Which means you have to shoot 20 minutes of video to get 1 minute of edited video.  I got lucky a couple of weeks ago at Parque Calderon.  The music, the light, the soldiers were all in the right place.  Pay close attention to 7 seconds into the video and 43 seconds into the video.  Very South American and very touching.

Note: This is a repost of a May 2012 post. The music and video is still one of my favorites

Working In Cuenca

The video below features the music of Jorge Triano, a local entertainer in Cuenca. He plays often at different venues in Cuenca and is on Facebook.  I love many things about Cuenca and high on the list is the amazing work ethic of the citizens.  I also love the churches and the architecture.  Enjoy the video and Jorge’s music.

Teatro Incorrecto

Sometimes in life you take a wrong turn and get lost and sometimes you find a treasure.  Last night Sharon and I were rushing to the free Cuenca Symphony Performance at the Teatro Sucre y Luis Cordero.  Even though we have lived here over a year we found ourselves in the Teatro Cultura on Luis Cordero.  I was shocked when the normally free concert was $10 apiece.  But, shock turned to joy when we found ourselves being entertained by Altiplano, an outstanding Chilean band. Both Sharon and I lost count at 30 instruments but each of the 5 players played at least 4 different instruments and the lead entertainer played at least 10 different instruments.  A wonderful evening of beautiful Andean music.

Of course live music always sounds better  but the video below is a good sampling of the great music that evening.

Animoto – Part One

A big challenge for any photographer is how to store, share and present your photos to friends and family.  Animoto is a super easy-to-use web based application that you can use on your computer (PC or Mac) IPad, IPod or IPhone to create videos using your photos plus music.  The Lite program is free to use to make 30 seconds videos or you can subscribe to their Plus program for $30 per year . The Plus program gives you unlimted storage and the videos can be longer than 30 seconds.  The Pro version is probably beyond the scope of the readers of this blog as it is geared to professional photographers and businesses.

After you create a new video using your photos, you can share it with friends on the web, Facebook, or Email.

In my next post I will create a screenflow video to show the easy steps in creating an Animoto video. Below is a short sample of my trip to visit family in the U.S.
