My Favorite Android Apps 2015

These Apps also run on iPads and iPhones.

Here are my top five apps

  • Pocket:  Previously known as Read It Later, is an application and service for managing a reading list of articles from the Internet. It runs on my Android Phone, iPad Mini and Macbook Pro. I now subscribe to the Pro Version and can search from a list that has 2 years worth of entries

  • Google Photos – Do you want an easy 1-2-3 photo editing program as well as unlimited storage and the ability to create movies and stories from your photos – then run don’t walk and download the app

  • WhatsApp – Facebook acquired this super texting and VOIP program. You can send free texts to individuals or groups all around the world. A skype type video conferencing will be introduced within the next year

  • Moves – A great app to record your steps, walking, cycling etc. You also get a map of your travels and you can save and share in miles or kilometers.

  • PocketCasts: Live in Ecuador but want to listen to Terry Gross on NPR- No problem with the Pocketcasts App. You can stream or download your favorite Podcast or TV Show and automatically have them queued for playback

Paseo Del Ñinos 2015

This is the big day for Cuencano kids. The whole town marches in a parade that lasts the whole day. This year the route changed because of the Tranvia construction. I have become spoiled to going two blocks from my house and seeing the parade. I got to the parade a little late and although there was a significant police presence I didn’t feel comfortable taking pictures with my Nexus 6.

The first movie is some photos I snapped. The second movie is one of my favorite characters.

Nexus 6 Smartphone 64 gb On Sale

Very limited sale on the Nexus 6 Smartphone 64 gb. It’s selling for $299. I purchased mine on sale 3 months ago for $399 and I thought I got a deal because the original price was $699. Run, don’t walk to

Best smartphone I have owned. The only down side is that it is a phablet. 6 inch phone and on the heavy side. I love the camera and speed.

What Is HDR (High Dynamic Range)

Attention CTL Subscribers. If you don’t take photographs on your smartphone on a regular basis then skip this post. I promise I won’t get mad 🙂

If you’re still reading this post then you should really be familiar with HDR. Simply statedHDR combines the best parts of the three overexposed, underexposed, and balanced shots to create a dramatic image with beautiful shadowing and highlights.

Google Camera 3.0 automatically detects when HDR+ (High Dynamic Range + Low Light) should be used to capture great photos in low light and backlit scenes on the Nexus 6, Nexus 5X, and Nexus 6P.

HDR works in a similar fashion on the iPhone.  Below are 3 photos the first one is without HDR, the second is with HDR and the third one is taken almost in the dark.
